WallMind — Privacy policy

WallMind digitises a physical sticky-note wall. This explains exactly what the app collects, why, where it goes, and what control you have.

The short version

• Your notes and walls are stored on your device and in your own Firebase area, so they survive a lost phone and sync between your devices.
• Location is used for one thing only: noticing you've arrived home so the app can remind you about notes waiting to go on the wall. Your live location is never tracked — only the single home spot you choose is saved, to your own private account.
• Wall photos stay on your phone unless you switch on Drive backup, which copies them to your own Google Drive. They are never uploaded to us.
• We show ads, which involves Google AdMob. You can remove them.
• If the app crashes, a technical report goes to Google so we can fix it. It does not identify you.
• If you buy the ad-free upgrade, Google Play handles the payment. We never see your card details.
• We do not sell your data.

Account information

Signing in with Google gives us your email address, display name and Google account ID. This identifies your walls, lets you share a wall with someone by email, and shows other members of a shared wall who you are.

Your content

Note text, wall names, people names, and who a note is assigned to. This is the app's purpose. It is stored on your device and synced to Firebase so it isn't lost with your phone and appears on your other devices.

Photos

Scanning a wall captures an image. Photos are stored on your device and are automatically deleted after 30 days to save space. They are never uploaded to our servers.

They leave your phone only if you switch on “Images to Google Drive” in Settings → Cloud storage, and then they go to your own Google Drive, not to us. See the next section.

Google Drive backup (optional)

This feature is off unless you turn it on. When it is on, WallMind copies your full-size wall photos into a “WallMind” folder in your own Google Drive, filed by month, so they outlive the 30-day cleanup on your phone.

WallMind asks Google for the drive.file permission only. That permission lets an app see and manage just the files it creates itself. WallMind cannot read, list or change any other file in your Drive, and does not ask for the ability to. If you turn the feature off, or remove WallMind's access from your Google account, uploading stops; anything already in your Drive stays there and is yours to keep or delete.

The photos are stored in your Google Drive under your own Google account and count against your Drive storage. We have no copy of them and no way to reach them.

Location (home reminder)

If you turn on the home reminder, WallMind reads your device location to set the single “home” spot you choose, and uses location in the background to tell when you arrive there. Your live or ongoing location is never tracked, logged, or collected. The one home spot you set (its coordinates) is saved to your private WallMind account (our Firebase project, secured so only you can read it) so the reminder works across your devices and after reinstalling. It is never shared with other people or any other company, and you can remove it any time in Settings → Location & Reminders.

The feature is optional and off until you turn it on; everything else in the app works without it.

Microphone

Used only while you are dictating a note. Speech is converted to text by Android's own speech recognition. The app does not record or store audio.

Handwriting recognition

By default, reading handwriting happens entirely on your device using Google ML Kit. If you choose to add your own free Google AI Studio (Gemini) API key, scanned images are sent to Google's Gemini service for more accurate reading, under your own key. This only happens while a key is set, and you can remove it at any time in Settings.

Advertising

WallMind shows ads through Google AdMob, which may collect device identifiers and ad interaction data to serve and measure ads. You can remove all ads by watching a rewarded video or buying the ad-free upgrade.

If you are in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, or Switzerland, WallMind shows you a consent choice before any personalised advertising, using Google’s certified consent mechanism. You can review or change your choice at any time from Settings → Ad privacy choices inside the app. Users elsewhere are not shown this prompt.

Crash and diagnostic reports

To find and fix problems, WallMind uses Firebase Crashlytics, a Google service. When the app crashes or misbehaves, it sends Google a report containing technical diagnostics — the type of device, the version of Android, the app version, and the technical stack trace of what went wrong. These reports are used only to make the app more stable. They are not used to identify you, are not sold, and are not shared with advertisers.

Payments

The ad-free upgrade is sold through Google Play's billing system. Your payment is made to Google, not to us: we never see or handle your card number, bank details, billing address or any other payment information, and none of it passes through the app.

Google Play tells the app one thing — whether this Google account owns the ad-free upgrade — so the app knows to hide ads. We store that yes/no answer against your account so the upgrade follows you to a new phone. Refunds and payment records are handled by Google Play under Google's own privacy policy.

Sharing a wall

If you invite someone to a wall, they can see that wall's notes, its people, and who is assigned to what. They cannot see your other walls. You can revoke access at any time, and invites can be set to expire.

Where your data is stored

Notes, walls, people, settings and your home location are stored in Google Firebase. Access is restricted by server-side security rules so that only you — and people you explicitly invite to a specific wall — can read or change your walls.

How long we keep it

• Notes and walls are kept until you delete them. Deleted notes go to Archived and can be restored.
• Wall photos on your device are deleted automatically after 30 days. If Drive backup is on, a photo is only deleted once it has safely reached your Drive.
• Photos copied to your Google Drive stay there until you delete them. They are in your Drive, under your control — deleting the app does not remove them.
• Deleting a wall you own also deletes its notes and people from the cloud.

Deleting your account

Settings → Account → Delete account removes everything immediately. Your walls, notes and people are deleted from this device and from the cloud there and then. There is no waiting period and no way to undo it.

Photos already copied to your Google Drive are not touched. They sit in your own Drive, and only you can remove them — deleting them for you is not something the app is able, or entitled, to do.

Walls you own are deleted along with their notes and people. Walls that belong to someone else simply lose your membership — their data is theirs, not ours to delete.

Export your data first if you want to keep a copy: Settings → Account → Export my data gives you a single file with every wall, note and person in it.

Children

WallMind is not directed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect their data.

Security

Access is enforced by server-side rules, not just by the app, and data is transmitted over encrypted connections. No system is perfectly secure, but we do not store your data anywhere other than the Google services above.

Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, export or delete the personal data we hold about you, and to object to certain processing.

• Access and export — Settings → Account → Export my data produces a single file containing every wall, note and person.
• Deletion — Settings → Account → Delete account removes everything immediately.
